Stevie Nicks was born on May 26th 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona. She is well known for her role as a singer in the rock band Fleetwood Mac and for her solo career. Both careers combined producced over forty Top 50 hits and have sold close to 120 million albums. The release of Nicks album with her boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham caught the attention of Fleetwood Mac in the 1970`s.
Fleetwood Mac only intended to hire Lindsey Buckingham but he told the band that he and Nicks " We`re a package deal". Rumours, Buckingham and Nicks first album with Fleetwood Mac, produced four Top 40 singles. The album also gained Fleetwood Mac international fame and kept them on the American number one album charts for over 30 weeks . In 1981 Stevie Nicks started her solo career with the album Bella Donna. Nicks solo career has produced five albums to date. Stevie Nicks has overcome dependecy on tranquilizers, chronic fatigue syndrome and a serious cocaine addiction. Recently Nicks has been spending some of her personal time visiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital giving the soldiers there her presence, support and iPods filled with tons of music.

I like Stevie Nicks because her voice is truly one of a kind. Her lyrics are captivating because they are mystical and spiritual. It is easy to understand what she is saying and feel the emoutions in her songs through the tone in her voice and the beat of the instruments. My favorite version of Rhiannon was performed on the 1976 Midnight Special. It is fast and ecxiting. There is nothing Nicks can not do, her vocals have no limits. Stevie Nicks has staying power because she has been around for decades writing in a fresh and captivating way about timeless themes and she is still out of the road performing for new and old fans. Nicks has always made it clear that music is her passion, it is the reason she gave up married life and her chance at motherhood.
